In its first year of operation, we hope to create at least 20 new jobs on site to cater for the people using the facility. Looking to the wider local job market, the expected benefits that surrounding businesses can expect to gain are substantial.
A report commissioned by Scottish Enterprise into the value of mountain bike tourism in Scotland in 2009 found that 1,360 full time jobs are directly linked to the provision of services supporting off road cycling.
The same report also found that as well as servicing local demand (24% of total visitors) this type of facility is associated with destination specific 3 to 4 day stays with an average per-trip spend of £580. The potential for Bikepark Cornwall to stimulate employment growth for a range of local accommodation and service facilities is clear.
